Rhythms of Freedom (featuring the Macusi Players)

This project is a result of an effort to redefine my music and poetry through African, Caribbean and Asian influences. To re-engage with these communities within the context of their multi-racial Britain and to assess the new cultural range, full of richness and values. This is one of the many challenges in the new  millennium, along with the process of hearing, looking, feeling, experiencing, respecting, encouraging, breathing, the forces of voices, harmonic senses, the sound of the wind and rhythms of freedom.

Over the years, I have been very fortunate to work in a collaborative way, with artists, dancers, poets, musicians, actors, agents and producers that has helped me shape the direction of my music. To these very creative people, I am forever grateful.

This is the 15th year of the Macusi Players and this compact disc is a celebration of that fact.
