Keith Waithe

What has Keith been up to the last five years?

I moved to the Sussex Downs…

During lockdown I moved with my family to a small village nestled in the South Downs in Ovingdean. The surrounding scenery is inspiring with Skylarks and the sea at my doorstep. The lush green landscape reminds me of my childhood…

Ovingdean has a talented bunch of residents and I soon started making new friends and collaborators – jamming with Mauro – an Italian composer, arranger, actor and musician. we have wonderful sessions around his mini grande piano and have played at several local functions, including a memorable post-lockdown concert to a packed church crowd in the local church, St. Wolfrans Church (pictured).

The church has a rich history of hosting music and arts events, attended by both parishioners and local residents.

I had the pleasure of performing with Sussex Flutes – a wonderful Flute Quintet that has an extensive classical repertoire. I played classical pieces and they collaborated on Guyana with Love, remembering that I am classically trained but found my voice through Jazz and Improvisation.
